How We Build

remodelWe believe there must be a good fit, a comfortable relationship, between you -- the homeowner -- and your contractor. Let's walk through a typical remodel job from start to finish, so you can see how we approach each project.

THE CONSULTATION

When you first contact us to schedule a consultation, we'll want to know a little about your project: the scope of your needs, the desired time frame, your location and your budget. We'll then set a date and time for your consultation. At your consultation, we'll review your project in more detail and help you visualize the possibilities -- including materials and products we might use. This meeting typically lasts an hour, and we can conduct it in person or simply talk over the phone.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Based on what you've shared with us at the consultation, we'll prepare a Preconstruction Agreement to initiate the design process. When you sign this agreement, you are hiring Butler Brothers to design and specify the components of your project. We use this document as a general outline for your project and to provide you with a budget. From the beginning, you'll play an integral role in the design process and in selecting materials and products. The cost of this phase, which includes design meetings and showroom visits, will vary depending on the project. The design process can take as little as a few weeks but largely depends on the project's complexity and your availability for showroom visits and design meetings.

CONSTRUCTION TIME

Next, we'll prepare a Construction Agreement based on the decisions we've made together. When you sign this agreement, you are hiring Butler Brothers to start construction. At this time, you'll also receive a payment schedule that corresponds with the various stages of construction and delivery dates for major components. A 10 percent down payment is typical and we'll collect a final payment when all loose ends are wrapped up. Several factors can affect a project's completion time, including the time of year and the availability of materials. However, we will dedicate a crew to work on your project until the job is done. We'll also nail down a comprehensive timeline before any construction begins, so you can anticipate each phase.
